Hi, I’m Bethany

I’m a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant (CBCC-KA) and Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) who specializes in helping reactive and aggressive dogs live less stressful, more fulfilling lives with their people.

I use science-based, positive reinforcement techniques to promote behavior change, reduce stress, and build stronger relationships between dogs and their people. No quick fixes or magic wands, just deliberate effort rooted in trust, consent, and collaboration.

My journey started with a senior dog who came with more than a few behavior challenges. He made curious about canine body language and sparked what became a full obsession with the science of behavior. That led me to earn a degree in anthrozoology (the study of human-animal relationships) and eventually into professional training and behavior consulting.

For the past five years, I’ve been working hands-on with dogs and their humans, helping them navigate everything from leash reactivity to fear of strangers to the daily struggles that come with living with a sensitive or misunderstood dog.

I also live it. I currently share my home with three dogs, including Sully - my reactive terrier mix with separation anxiety and fear of strangers. In short, he's a hot mess. In the 3 years we’ve lived together he has come so far, but he reminds me that even with all the training, support, and patience in the world, we can still have bad days and that moving forward is more important than ruminating over what went wrong. Sully keeps me grounded in the real-life messiness of this work, and he’s a huge part of why I do what I do.

Training with me isn’t about fixing your dog - it’s about building a relationship that works for both of you. I believe deeply in meeting dogs and people where they are, working with consent, compassion, and being flexible.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure of where to start, please know you’re not alone. I’m here to support you with curiosity, kindness, and science-backed strategies that make sense for your life.

Let’s help your dog feel safer, and your home feel calmer.

“In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog.”

— Edward Hoagland

Sully, Professional Belly Rub Receiver

Sully is 5 years old, has separation anxiety, is afraid of strangers (but loves you once he knows you), and fearful-dog reactive. He has big feelings and is not shy about letting you know! His hobbies include receiving ALL the belly rubs, barking at squirrels for his sister, and squeaking toys incessantly.

Cocoa, Chief Squirrel Chaser

Cocoa is a 4 year old female pittie with a heart as big as her stocky chest. She’s never met a person she didn't love, a chew toy she couldn’t destroy, or a squirrel not worth chasing. She is queen of snuggles and zoomies. Her hobbies include harassing her brother Sully into playing chase, sunbathing, and keeping the yard clear of anything that moves.

Bishop, Director of Snacks

At 14 years old Bishop is living his best Labrador life, walk, nap, snack , repeat. He takes his role as director of snacks very seriously, attempting to eat anything and everything remotely edible. His hobbies include naps, bating around puzzle toys, and collecting chews. His favorite food? Yes.
